From Family Breaking Free from Brooklyns Crack Era and NY Marcy Projects to Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s FEMA Office of Grants Administration

Dr. TeNeane Bradford is the Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s FEMA Office of Grants Administration, overseeing a $3 billion budget to enhance national security, empower communities, and build resilience. A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Bradford hails from humble beginnings with parents and grandparents migrating from the South to North Eastern opportunities and survived life within Brooklyn, New Yorks’s Marcy Projects and whose parents moved back South East to escape Bushwick’s crack era crime. She was encouraged and, by desire, purposefully took on leadership and management roles since the age of 16, driven by a mission to empower others to thrive despite adversity.

Before FEMA, she held key roles at the U.S. DOJ’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) and the Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) led national initiatives on youth justice, earning the 2019 Assistant Attorney General Distinguished Service Award. Her groundbreaking work in organizational and systemic crisis response, successful implementation of the U.S. Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act to ensure protections for youth in the JJ system, and national security preparedness solidifies her reputation as a visionary and transformational leader.

Dr. Bradford holds a BA in Religious Studies, dual Master’s degrees in Management and Human Resource Development, and a Doctorate in Public Service Leadership. An advocate for harnessing the power of AI in leadership and public service, she continually pushes the boundaries of societal innovation in the U.S., sharing her vision in her upcoming book:” AI POLICING 2030”.
